Welcome to the Lake |
Penlake is more than a lake. It is a living legacy.
Summer after summer, families have returned — building cottages, friendships, and memories that link grandparents to grandchildren. That continuity is rare. And it is precious.
The Penlake Historical Committee is entrusted with preserving and sharing that enduring story.
In the 1990s, a dedicated group of volunteers researched archives, gathered photographs, and recorded memories, culminating in the publication of Penlake (1993) and Penlake II (1997). Their work remains an extraordinary gift to our community.
In 2013, a new Committee was formed to carry that torch forward — digitizing photographs, recording interviews, preserving archival documents, and expanding sailing, golf, tennis, and regatta records. Through this ongoing work, the memories of yesterday remain accessible today — and protected for tomorrow.
But history is never finished.
We continue to expand our collection, adding new materials and trophy records that celebrate not only competition, but the traditions that define Penlake.
These archives remind us of who we are. They connect new families to long-standing stories and help the next generation understand they are part of something enduring.
Preserving Penlake’s history is a community effort. If you have photographs, memorabilia, or stories to share — or would like to join the Historical Committee — we would be delighted to hear from you.
We invite you to explore this section of the website — browse the articles, historic photographs, and interviews as you journey down memory lane.
Together, we safeguard the story of Penlake.
